We realized that Max hasn’t posted a blog entry in a while, so here’s his list of things you didn’t know:

- My favorite pastime is receiving bellyrubs from my slaves – Marianne and Eirik.
- My slogan is:Â bellyrubs for world peace!
- I eat anything, my favorite in the category “I freak out Marianne and Eirik when eating this”, is frozen reindeer-poo.
- I totally embarassed Marianne and Eirik when I at the age of 10 weeks tried to hump a small black Schnauzer.
- I like cats, and I don’t mean “mm, you look tasty” – I actually like cats.
- Out of all my friends, only two have been able to completely wear me out when playing: Brutus and Kiara.

Yesterday was the second puppy-class, and a very successful one. We learned a lot of useful tricks for training Max, and he did a great job throughout the course – as long as there were treats within range…

We haven’t been following this up lately, but Max seems to be a very quick learner. His most recent – and probably most charming – trick is to do a “high five”, as demonstrated in the photo above (click for a bigger version). It’s not the most useful thing in the world, but anything we can teach him is positive, as it’s extremely important for Jack Russells to get to use their brains.

I’ll try to remember my camera for the next class, and post some photos. BTW I’m looking for a better photo gallery software, since Gallery 2 is sluggish to say the least on Dreamhost servers. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

We took Max to his first puppy-class yesterday, and he seemed to enjoy it. I mean, take a cute little dog, add lots of dog lovers who wants to pet him and tell him how cute he is, then add plenty of candy and treats for training, as well as saying hi to other canines of various breeds, and you pretty much have the perfect recipe for a dog’s dream day.

The first night was mainly an introduction, but we did some basic training, and Max did a wonderful job. The trainer said something like “wow, you’re a boiled potato, aren’t you” when she said hi to Max. I have no idea what she meant, but she finished with “but that exactly how you should be!”, so I’ll keep assuming it’s a positive thing. Might be related to his eagerness to lick the living daylights out of everyone he meets…

Photos of upcoming puppy-classes will be posted later.

It’s me again, the dog from the hood, Max. Boy, have things been weird lately. First off, one evening when I was lying in the muppet-sofa (long story, involving my crazy owners and a poor muppet from IKEA) enjoying a delicious dried queue de porc, all of a sudden there were a bunch of teeth lying next to me on the sofa. I was bleeding all over the sofa, and my lovely treat was lying there waiting for me to chew on it, but I had nothing to chew with. Imagine sitting at a fancy restaurant, the waitor has just served you the dish of your dreams, and then suddenly all your teeth fall out. Unless the dish of your dreams is a soup or something that can be digested through a straw, this should give you a clue to how I felt. Things are pretty good now, though. The very next day, I was able to eat again, and my owners felt so bad for me, they gave me lots of nice and soft snacks. Yummy!

In other news, I’m now apparently old enough to be home alone. It sucks. Totally. If I could only have the entire apartment to myself, but noooo. All I get is the lousy hall, with nothing to chew on, only my bed, some toys that I’m fed up with, and water to drink. The upside is that when my owners come home, they give me lots of attention and love, take me for long walks and playing out on the field.

Well, I guess I’ll get back to doing what we dogs do when we’re home alone, pursuing and perfecting our favourite past-time – sleeping. See you soon, MaxZZZzzzZZZ…

Hi! My name is Max, I’m a 12 week old Jack Russel terrier, and I moved in with Marianne and Eirik about 3 weeks ago.

My hobbies are: eating, sleeping, peeing (preferrable on the carpets inside, but my flatmates seem to get upset, and they give me candy if I go outside, so I’ll just stick with that from now on), and entertaining my flatmates by stirring things up a bit around the house. My favourite is eating everything I find outside, especially old cigarettes, this makes them go crazy and start playing with me to make me spit it out. Great fun, and it’s giving them some much needed excersise too, so I’m very happy with myself.

Yesterday we went to the vet, which wasn’t as bad as I had feared. I got lots of candy, especially when they poked me with a sharp needle, but it didn’t hurt at all. It appears that as long as I’m not showing pain at the vet’s office, they give me candy and tell me what a good boy I am. I’m adding this to the long list of things to do or not to do to get candy. Humans are sooo easy to manipulate, it’s not even a challenge. The problem is that the vet told Eirik and Marianne that I’m a bit chubby, so lately they haven’t been as easy to fool.

Other than that, I’ve learned a couple of neat tricks since I moved in with them (“tricks” in the human language is what I call “ways to get candy”), like “sit”, “stay”, and various other words like “no”, that I’m just ignoring since they’re never accompanied with candy.

I’ll be guest-blogging here for Eirik and Marianne now and then, since they’re too busy to post anything themselves, or that’s what they’re saying anyways, I’ve seen them lying on the sofa eating chips and drinking Coca Cola. Lazy, lazy, lazy.

Yours voofly, Max.

Oh, almost forgot; there are some pictures of me here, so you can see how cute I am: http://gallery.eiriks.net/max/
