Today was our first visit to the midwife who we’ll be visiting regularly during the pregnancy. All is well with mother and child, and today we got to hear tiny little heartbeats for the first time. A wonderful and almost surreal experience.
In two weeks we’re having the ultrasound scan/sonogram, which will probably make everything even more real than it is now, and hopefully we’ll see a baby with ten fingers and toes and perhaps be able to tell if it’s a boy or a girl. Exciting times!
Yeah, it really is a surreal feeling to know that there is a new life forming. Best of luck forward, and do remember to enjoy your life as non-parents, because life will change when the baby arrives.
Thank you for the good advice, we’re trying to enjoy this time and sleep much and so on
Happy Birthday!
I’m remembering now that midwife visits are later in Norway. When we had our ultrasound, that’s exactly what the technician told us. Though I was sorely aggravated when I thought we were going in for a second to determine the sex (I think they thought it was too soon when we came) and it was a completely different purpose, meeting to talk about procedures with a woman who (forgive me) did not speak English well and I was so confused. Not fun when you’re pregnant! I can’t believe you’re going to be parents. You’ll be great and lots of fun!
Must be annoying and confusing to have to deal with people you can’t communicate well with in that situation. At least everything turned out well and you now have a wonderful baby girl
Or rather a soon-to-be-grown-up girl, it’s almost scary how quickly they grow up
Thank you, we’re very excited and will do our very best to be good parents.
