Warning! If you’re an animal lover, you may not want to keep reading.
I zapped by a documentary about animal cruelty yesterday, and I’m stuck with some images on my retina that I’d very much like to get rid of. I don’t want to get too graphic here, but the short part I watched was a hidden camera video of someone skinning an animal alive. Yeah, alive. The camera zoomed in on this poor skinless animal, showing it blinking its eyes, panting, and I was screaming inside telling them to end its suffering, before I couldn’t take it anymore and switched channel.
I know that people can be cruel, and that injustice is being done to people and animals around the world all the time, and I suppose that at some point I’ll stop being shocked at just how thoughtless and brutal people can be, but I haven’t reached that point just yet.
What can be done about this? I’m not at the point where I’d consider joining PETA – they’re too extreme for me, but I would really like to be able to contribute some way or another to fight (animal) cruelty around the world.
