Actually there is no diffrence. Here is the primer for you.

If a signal is analog every little bit of interfearance on the line or every little partial signal loss affects the qualityon the other end.

Digital Cables, Like HDMI, are well... digital. all 1s and 0s, so if a staticy fuzzy 1 gets to the other side of the cable It is still a 1. It is like the diffrence between a cassette tape and a CD or DAT tape. As long as that 1 gets through, it works.

If you are really worried about digital signals over wires make sure that all your cables and power cables run purpendicular to themselves.

Where you do have to worry is cable length. The longer the cable the grater the risistance it offers to the signals traveling across it, and the weaker the signal gets at the recieving end. 2-3m (6 - 10 feet) is not a big worry. 6 - 8m (18 to 20 feet) can really be an issue and then the expensive cableing would be slightly better. If you are going to send digital signals over a fair distance you have to either get cableing made for it or instal signal repeaters on the cable to boost and send the signal down the line.

As for quality here is a humours thing I think you will find interesting. http://consumerist.com/362926/do-coat-hangers-sound-as-good-monster-cables
