Jesper recently introduced me to Project Euler, and at first my reaction was “I won’t even bother trying that, I suck at math!”, but eventually I decided to give it a go. If anything this should be a great opportunity to get better at maths and as a result of that become a better developer. Just from solving the first four problems, I’ve learned or re-learned a couple of really useful math-basics – prime factoring (by trial division, I couldn’t wrap my head around the more complex algorithms) and calculating the Fibonacci-sequence.
I’m pretty sure that I’m quite soon going to meet a problem that I just don’t know enough about maths to be able to solve, but for now I’m having fun doing this, while bugging Jesper now and then with SMQs.
