Dreamhost webmail

One of my biggest pet peeves with Dreamhost has always been their choice of webmail-client – Squirrelmail.

Fortunately, they seem to have come to their senses, and now in beta: http://roundcube.dreamhost.com/!

This is excellent news! I’ve given RoundCube a go, and it seems like a great alternative to Squirrelmail.

If you’re a Dreamhost-user, give it a spin, and give feedback in the forums. If you’re not a Dreamhost-user, sign up with them now* – you won’t regret it!

* As usual, that link gives me some referral credit if you follow it and sign up with Dreamhost.

I really like Dreamhost. Been with them almost a year.

    I really dislike SquirrelMail.

For the most part I like RoundCube – it’s a big upgrade over SquirrelMail.

But, to me RoundCube is pretty far from ideal / good.

Like, I have one user that for some reason can’t delete or move messages in RoundCube. (?!?)

…and you can’t see messages in Dreamhost’s junk mail quarantine from within RoundCube.

…and I have found a few other UI annoyances. Probably not worthy of much more detail here…

Thankfully I only have to use any of these web clients only when necessary! I would hate to have to use either full time. Still looking for a better alternative to both.

I actually switched to using Google Apps Gmail for my domain about a year ago, and I haven’t looked back since. You can do the setup from the Dreamhost Panel, the whole process is really smooth.

The Gmail UI is great, the spam-filtering perfect, all in all I can definitely recommend making the switch to Google Apps for your domain! :)
