A couple of years ago, after receiving some old documents from my grandfather, I started doing some research to find out more about the origin of our family name and history. With a lot of help from some distant relatives who have also been on the same quest, and even more help from the internet, we have succeded in finding solid information about our family history, all the way back to the first person who started using the surname Stavem.
I have now published most of the information I have found so far on www.stavem.net.
The work will continue, now focusing on getting more information about current generations, and filling in the gaps.
Please contact me if you have more information about the Stavem name, or if you’re interested in an email-address on the stavem.net-domain.

Now if you want some information far, far back you should have yourself DNA tested through the National Geographic genealogy program. You find out that you came from Africa and then how your family migrated through Europe/Asia and upward. Haven\’t tried it yet but André has. A bit cool!
Oh cool, wonder if it\’s possible to have that done here in Tromsø.. I\’ve hit a dead end in my research, since it\’s close to impossible to read old church-books and christening transcripts.
It\’s a scam! We\’re all from Africa!
Can you prove it?
Yes. When I scratch myself, I\’m black underneath. Umm…
\r\n\r\nSeriously though, Darwin. And trams.
Darwin – totally, trams – que?
By the way, could I get kjerringa.med@stavem.net, please?\r\n\r\nHaha… hehe.
LOL
Well, that test would actually prove that you come from Africa… if they find something else you will probably become famous;-)
Hmm, with fame comes fortune, right?
