Winter in Oslo…

I grew up in the northern parts of Norway, so I’m used to wonderful winter days with white show everywhere, beautiful light from the sun being low in the sky, and silence everywhere except from the sound of your steps in the snow..

The contrast to the Oslo winter is enormous, with almost no snow at all, just some dark grey nasty powder (made from snow, salt, and dirt) on the sidewalks, and the light in the sky is hardly visible due to the bright streetlights and other lights from the city.

I think I’m just homesick at the moment, so everything that I know is nice at home looks a lot worse in comparison down here in Oslo. I suppose that’s just how it is when living in an environment that’s very different to what I grew up in and used to love as a kid. Anyone else feel that way sometimes? Just a sudden urge to be home? I sure do..
