Dreamhost web panel in Opera

I have always used the Dreamhost web panel in Opera, and have always been annoyed with the slow way of navigating because they load the page all over every time I select a new group instead of just using a dynamic menu to toggle the contents of the menu groups.

I have been using Firefox a bit more lately, because I’ve been testing the alpha releases of FeedLounge, and needed to compare with Firefox to figure out where Opera is broken and why. Since I was already in Firefox, and needed to make a quick change to one of my MySQL databases, I opened the Dreamhost panel in Firefox – and what do you know – the panel has nifty dynamic menus, and page loads feel a lot faster, probably because it takes one step less when navigating between different parts of the panel…

I have sent a support request to Dreamhost, hopefully they’ll stop sending lesser markup to Opera soon and let me use the web panel in my favourite browser.

I asked them about that months ago, and got a reply saying they\’d forwarded the request to the appropriate department.\r\n\r\nI also told them that the \”active domain\” drop-down list didn\’t work in Opera anymore, same reply…\r\n\r\nLet us know what they answer this time! :o )

Well, then I guess I shouldn\’t get my hopes up from their reply: \”I\’ve passed this on to our coders. Hopefully they\’ll be able to make this\r\nchange before the next newsletter. If you ever have any further suggestions, you can really get our coders attention by adding your\r\nsuggestion here: https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=home.sugg&\”\r\n\r\nI have added a suggestion for this, please vote for it when/if they add it to the list of voteable suggestions :)

Well… Seems like I am staying with my Firefox for still a while then :) \r\n\r\n

I\’d vote for your suggestion, if I hadn\’t already spent all my points ;o)\r\n\r\nPerhaps I should write to them again, too… To really pressure them! Hehe…

@Dan: dude, throw away that copycat-browser now! ;) \r\n\r\n@Ølle: please do, maybe they understand that we mean business! :)

@Eirik: Done!\r\n(For the first time, I even used the \”I probably know more than you\”-option in the request ;o))

PS: If you tell Opera to identify itself as Mozilla, you get the Firefox menus… I told them that too.

Hehehe, I have never crossed out that thing, I\’m thinking they\’d think I\’m arrogant and just ignore my request ;) But in the case of Opera and markup etc I think you should be safe to say you know more than them :D

I tried to find your suggestion on the suggestion board, but no luck – can you post a thread here?

Hm, my suggestion doesn\’t seem to have made it to the suggestions page… *sending new email to Dreamhost support*

He-hey! Check it out, Eirik, our efforts were rewarded. They now send the same markup to Opera as they do to Mozilla… Yay! :o )

I\’m loving it :D \r\n\r\nWhat\’s next on the list of things we want Dreamhost to fix? :)
