War of the Worlds

Low expectations, decent movie…

As earlier mentioned, I didn’t have any expectations to the movie at all, which usually is a good thing. Despite a few issues with the plot, and some flaky acting-performances, I enjoyed the movie. The special effects and the battle-scenes were really amazing, and Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning did a fair job in their roles. Tim Robbins also had a small part, that he portrayed brilliantly.

Not having read the book or heard the story on the radio, my biggest issue was how the movie ended. I’m not sure I understood much about what happened.. Can’t say more without spoiling the movie, so I’ll ask Allan at work tomorrow.

What to expect when going to see this movie? Great special effects, a couple of scary moments, some decent acting. What not to expect when going to see this movie? Great acting all the time, a good storyline and clear peaks on the “thrill-scale”…

All in all: 4

Allan told me the ending now, and it\’s very clear that when making the movie, they assumed that everyone would know the story.. Knowing the meaning of the end, the movie is actually slightly better.. :)

If I had known about the whole plot in advance, I think I would have given it a 5 too. It was far too obvious that they had made the whole movie assuming that people knew the story before-hand… either that or I\’m just really really slow ;)
