Want to see a good movie? I recommend The Forgotten!
It’s been a while since I’ve been to the cinema, so today me and Marianne went to see The Forgotten.
I know from experience that I’m pretty picky when it comes to movies, so I usually go without any expectations at all. Today, I knew the basics of the plot, and both Christian and Walter had told me that they liked the movie, but in general I didn’t know what to expect.
I can probably count on one hand the number of movies I’ve seen that didn’t have a dull moment at all, and The Forgotten is now one of them. From the moment of the first beautiful scene, to the beginning of the end credits, I was completely lost in the movie. The use of colors was exceptionally good, sort-of reminded me of The Human Stain, another movie I remember noticing the use of colors in… Anyway, other than the colors there were a couple of shots that the cinematographer should have been given an award for, the actors were fantastic (Julianne Moore’s talent really becomes obvious in parts like this one), the plot was very interesting and intriguing, the music by James Horner was just right in all of the different parts of the movie, enchancing the moods perfectly… and without giving any details I have to mention that at one point something happened that made me jump in my seat… literally! Everyone in the cinema had the same reaction as me, and even though the scene itself wasn’t funny at all, everyone started laughing… as far as I know, a natural reaction to being startled really badly… if you’ve seen the movie, you know exactly which scene I’m talking about…
Another thing that really proves how great this movie was, was at the end of the movie. Usually there are always someone who starts packing up as soon as the realize the movie is about to end. In this case, it was really odd. What happened was that the finishing scene faded away, the credits appeared, and it took a couple of seconds before anyone reacted – like we were all just thinking “wow….. that was one amazing movie”, and then started getting up. I know, it probably sounds like I’m making this up, but it really was completely quiet for a good while after the credits started. This doesn’t happen to me often, I do remember having the same feeling when I sawThe Shawshank Redemption for the first time (probably my all-time favourite movie).
As to the rating of this movie, I’m struggling with what to give it. This movie isn’t far from making it to my top 5 greatest movies list, and I absolutely loved it. Still, I can’t make myself give it a totally perfect score… don’t really know why… so:
My rating:Â
 (+++)

So I should see this one hey?
Absolutely!
